I’m Annie, a Canadian expat wife who recently followed her husband to the other side of the globe: Malaysia.
What I love:
Being a professional Art Therapist, I love to combine my love for art in a way that helps people reach self-awareness, self-expression, and promote healing. Art has always been a way of life for me and while painting is what I love to do most, I will admit to suffering great lapses in my relationship with it, something that my new surroundings have inspired me to mend. I love to cook and of course eat. Oh and I also love tea. Tea cures all. Last but definitely not least, few things enrich my life more than travelling. I adore immersing myself in new cultures, new languages, and new foods whenever I get the chance.
Blank Canvas Diaries
I’m going to go ahead and be cliché here: life really is a blank canvas. I have no idea where it will take me, as none of you do, but the possibilities are exciting. It’s the same feeling I get when I stare at a blank canvas, not knowing what it will become or how, but knowing I have the power to transform it, and it has the power to transform me.
Besides being mildly forced (you know who you are), I really just feel that I need a playground to collect and share my reflections and experiences – past and present – with those I’ve left behind in my various “homes”, along with new and hopefully interested readers. Add being an offshore wife to the mix and that leaves me to fend for myself in this new and foreign land alone for stretches of time. It sucks, yes, but I plan to make this work for me. I don’t know how yet but I want to share my process with you.
